Mr. Khawas is a competent professional with an MA. in Sociology from "Sikkim University" and with M.Phil from "Central Institute of Psychiatry" (Ranchi, Jharkhand). He has received 2 years of training working in the mental health arena. Dissertation submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirement for the award of Master's Degree in Sociology under the supervision of Dr. Swati Akshay Sachdeva (Associate Professor of Sociology). The topic for his dissertation work is "Study on the Ritual of Chu Rum Faat of the Lepchas and Pugal Parim of the Bhujels in the Darjeeling Hills". The dissertation work for M.Phil "Academic & Interpersonal Stressors, Perceived Social Support, Coping Responses on Subjective Well-being in Students Pursuing Professional and Non- Professional Courses: A Comparative Study". The study was conducted under the joint guidance of Dr. Nishant Goyal (Associate Professor of Psychiatry) and Dr. Dipanjan Bhattacharjee (Associate Professor of "Psychiatric Social Work").

He qualified NET in 2016 and NET-JRF in 2017 (Subject: Sociology),  and qualified State Eligibility Test (SET) in 2016.
