Observation of National Legal Services Day

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Cooch Behar organized awareness programmes on the occasion of National Legal Services Day on 9th November 2025, to promote legal literacy and strengthen the vision of “Access to Justice for All.”

As part of the observance, an outreach event was held at Binapani Club, followed by a visit to the Cooch Behar Correctional Home. The programme was graced by Smt. Sreemoyee Chakraborty, Secretary, DLSA, Cooch Behar, and witnessed active participation from the Indian Institute of Legal Studies Cooch Behar.

Under the guidance of Miss Shilpi Dhar, Assistant Professor of Law.

Interactive sessions at Binapani Club focused on legal aid, Lok Adalats, and rights of the under privileged, while the visit to the Correctional Home emphasized legal rights of inmates and access to free legal aid under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.

The event effectively reinforced the objectives of National Legal Services Day, promoting legal awareness and empowering citizens through education and outreach.
