1st Intra Moot Court Competition 2026 - August-December Session

26-08-2026

On 21st and 22nd August 2026, the Moot Court Society (MCS) of the Indian Institute of Legal Studies successfully organised the 1st Intra Moot Court Competition 2026 (August - December) session, with participation from students of the 5-Year B.A./B.B.A./B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.) Semesters VII & IX and 3-Year LL.B. Semester V.

As a part of the competition, the Researchers’ Test was conducted on 21st August 2026, providing participants with an opportunity to demonstrate their legal research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, while the Moot Court Competition was held on 22nd August 2026, focusing on advocacy, memorial drafting, and courtroom skills.

The moot proposition explored complex legal questions surrounding constitutional rights, environmental governance, indigenous protections, and transnational corporate accountability, centred on a large-scale lithium extraction project and its alleged impact on the environment and affected communities. Through the Researchers’ Test and the subsequent rounds of the competition, students engaged with contemporary and challenging legal issues, strengthening their ability to identify relevant legal principles, research authorities, analyse complex factual situations, draft effective memorials, and present persuasive legal arguments before the adjudicating panel.

The competition provided a valuable platform for students to develop and showcase their legal research, critical thinking, memorial drafting, advocacy, and courtroom skills, while encouraging a deeper understanding of emerging areas of law and the practical application of legal principles.
