Bridging Legal Education and Practice at Lok Adalat
14-09-2026
On the occasion of National Lok Adalat Day, the Indian Institute of Legal Studies took a meaningful step towards providing its students with valuable practical exposure to the justice delivery system. A group of 21 students from SEMESTER VII (BA, BBA and BCOM LLB Hons.) visited the Lok Adalat at Jalpaiguri to observe its proceedings and gain first-hand insight into the process of dispute resolution and the functioning of this important institution.
The visit enabled the students to understand how Lok Adalats facilitate speedy, accessible, and cost-effective justice through amicable settlement and conciliation. By encouraging parties to resolve disputes harmoniously, Lok Adalats not only reduce the burden on conventional courts but also strengthen the principle of access to justice for all.
At Indian Institute of Legal Studies, we believe that legal education extends beyond the classroom. Such experiential learning opportunities empower our students to connect legal theory with real-world practice and develop a deeper understanding of the justice system.
