The Students of Semester -IX,B.A.LL.B (Hons.) visited the office of IPS Officer Mr. Syed Waqar Raza, Commissioner of Police, Siliguri Police Commissionerate, Malaguri , As the part of our empirical research on the practical subject of Service Learning Under Environmental Protection Act,Air,Water,Forest, Person With Disabilities Act, Juvenile Justice Act.

The research titled “An Empirical Study of Section 10 JJ Act Compliance in Police Stations under Siliguri Police Commissionerate.”
During the visit, the students had an insightful interaction with IPS Officer Mr. Syed Waqar Raza, Commissioner of Police, Siliguri Police Commissionerate, who shared valuable insights into the functioning of the Commissionerate, child-sensitive policing, and the institutional responsibilities involved in dealing with children in conflict with law. They also interacted with Police Officer Mr. Subal Kumar Bose, who provided them with practical, ground-level knowledge regarding the procedures followed during apprehension, the importance of protecting children's dignity and rights, counselling, rehabilitation, and child-friendly treatment. The discussions further helped them to understand the role of Child Welfare Police Officers, observation homes, coordination with juvenile justice institutions, and the challenges faced by police personnel in ensuring compliance with statutory safeguards. The experience enabled them to connect classroom learning with practical legal realities and deepened our understanding of child rights, police accountability, and the importance of a child-centric juvenile justice system.
