POLITICAL SCIENCE SPECIAL EMPIRICAL RESEARCH REPORT FOR UPLOAD:
The students of B.A. LL.B (Hons), Semester IV, Section-A, under the supervision of Dr. Suvekcha Tamang, successfully conducted a special empirical research study on the topic “Awareness and Realization of Fundamental Rights among Urban Citizens in Siliguri.”

The field study was carried out at the Bidhan Market under Siliguri Municipal Corporation to understand the level of awareness regarding Fundamental Rights among urban citizens and the challenges faced in their realization.

The research aimed to assess public awareness, examine the role of socio-economic and educational factors, and identify the barriers preventing citizens from effectively exercising their constitutional rights. Interaction with SMC employees and members of the public revealed that many citizens still possess limited knowledge regarding their Fundamental Rights and the mechanisms available for their enforcement.

The study also highlighted the need for stronger awareness programmes and public initiatives to educate people about constitutional rights. Through this empirical research, students were able to connect theoretical concepts of Political Science with real social realities and gain practical exposure to field-based academic research.
