Felicitation Programme 2026 at Indian Institute of Legal Studies

The Indian Institute of Legal Studies, Siliguri organised a Felicitation Programme on 3rd September 2026 to honour and recognise the outstanding contributions of teachers, educational leaders, institutions and community contributors across North Bengal.
The programme was graced by Shri Anandamay Barman, Hon’ble Minister of State, Departments of Transport & Finance, Government of West Bengal; Swami Vishwadharanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Siliguri; His Grace Akhilatma Priya Das, President, ISKCON Temple, Siliguri; His Grace Kishor Gauranga Das, ISKCON Temple, Siliguri; and Dr. Joyjit Choudhury, Founder & Chairman, Indian Institute of Legal Studies.
Special recognition was accorded to Padma Shri Awardees Dr. Gambir Singh Yonzone, former faculty member of Darjeeling Government College and former Principal of Kalimpong College, and Prof. (Dr.) Mahendra Nath Roy, Professor, Department of Chemistry, University of North Bengal. Dr. Biswajit Roy, Assistant Professor, Jalpaiguri AC College and State President, ABVP, was also felicitated.
Awards were presented across seven categories: Educational Leadership Award, Academic Excellence Award, Emerging Educator Award, Community Service Award, Innovative Educator Award, Distinguished Service Award, and Motivational & Inspirational Award.
Institutions and dignitaries from Siliguri, Darjeeling, Kurseong, Mirik, Kalimpong, Coochbehar, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri and Malda were recognised, including Delhi Public School, Don Bosco School, Siliguri Girls’ High School, Siliguri Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Siliguri Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Narayana School (Fulbari), St. Paul’s School, Orange Lake School, Dowhill School, Dr. Graham’s Homes, Kalimpong Government Polytechnic College, Sambhota Tibetan School, St. Joseph’s Convent, St. Philomena’s Girls’ High School, Bagrakote Higher Secondary School, Sunity Academy, St. Xavier’s School, Chaturagach School, Jalpaiguri Government Girls’ High School, St. Anthony’s School, and North Point English Academy.
The programme commenced with Deepak Prajwalan, followed by a musical invocation and a formal welcome address by Dr. Trishna Gurung, Principal-in-Charge, Indian Institute of Legal Studies. The four-phase felicitation ceremony featured cultural performances by the students and concluded with the singing of Vande Mataram.
