Free Legal Aid & Awareness Program at Saptashree Gyanpeeth, Kalimpong

The Indian Institute of Legal Studies, Siliguri, organized a Free Legal Aid & Awareness Program at Saptashree Gyanpeeth, Kalimpong, on 4th July 2025. This initiative is part of the Institute’s ongoing outreach efforts to educate school students across North Bengal about their legal rights and responsibilities. The program focused on fostering legal literacy and raising awareness about contemporary socio-legal concerns among young students. The school administration and students were highly cooperative and enthusiastic throughout the session.

A 45-minute interactive session was conducted, during which the following topics were addressed:

Topics Covered : Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (focusing on data privacy and cyber awareness), and Career Counselling for students.

2. Ms. Vishaka Jindal, Student Volunteer, 3-Year LL.B., 6th Semester, Legal Aid Society

Topics Covered : Legal Awareness on Anti-Human Trafficking Laws and an overview of basic income-related provisions under the Income Tax Act.
