
Free Legal Aid & Awareness Program at Scottish Universities Mission Institution, Kalimpong

The Indian Institute of Legal Studies, Siliguri, has been conducting free legal awareness programs in various schools located in North Bengal, with students and teachers participating in the programs. The programs aims to empower the students of the region with knowledge of the legal rights and duties, creating legal literacy and empowering individuals regarding the contemporary socio- legal issues.

3. Dhanushree Gurung, B.COM LLB(H) SEM VI, Executive Member, Legal Aid Committee - Right to Information Act, 2005.
4. Charles Chettri, BA LLB(H) SEM II, Volunteer, Legal Aid Committee - Protection of Children against Sexual Offence (POCSO Act).
During the course of the program, the students actively engaged with the team and showed a keen interest in various socio-legal topics. Issues like cybercrime, the importance of data privacy, the growing concerns regarding human trafficking, and the protection of children were openly discussed.
An interactive session was also conducted where the students freely interacted with the speakers and teachers. They raised practical questions, shared their experiences, and received valuable guidance from the team members.
