Observation of Anti-Ragging Week 2026

The NSS-IQAC, and Legal Aid Cell of the Indian Institute of Legal Studies Siliguri successfully organised Anti-Ragging Week 2026 from 12th - 18th August 2026 with the objective of cultivating a campus culture founded on dignity, equality, mutual respect, and the rule of law.
Through a series of educational and participatory programmes, the initiative sought to sensitise students to the legal, ethical, and social implications of ragging while nurturing responsible citizenship and humane values among the youth.
12th August 2026 – Inaugural Awareness Programme
The observance commenced with an Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme for both freshers and senior students.
The session highlighted the legal framework prohibiting ragging, the rights and responsibilities of students, and the collective duty of every member of the academic community to uphold an environment of safety, inclusion, and respect.
17th August 2026 – Anti-Ragging Thematic Skit
Students presented an insightful Anti-Ragging themed skit, portraying the psychological, emotional, and legal consequences of ragging and remedies available.
The performance served as a powerful medium to inspire empathy, strengthen moral, legal responsibility, and encourage students to reject all forms of intimidation, discrimination, and harassment.
18th August 2026 – Debate, Poster Making & Essay Writing Competitions
Marking last day of the Anti-Ragging week series of Debate, Poster Making, and Essay Writing Competitions on the Anti-Ragging theme provided students with an opportunity to critically examine the issue, express innovative ideas, and advocate for a culture of compassion, equality, and justice.
The competitions fostered awareness, creativity, and leadership while reinforcing the shared commitment to eliminating ragging from educational institutions.
The observance of Anti-Ragging Week 2026 extended beyond campus awareness, contributing to the larger goal of building a socially responsible generation of young citizens who uphold constitutional values, respect human dignity, and promote peaceful coexistence.
By empowering students with legal awareness and ethical responsibility, the initiative reaffirmed that educational institutions play a pivotal role in shaping a society free from fear, violence, and discrimination.
