The Other Backward Classes Cell has been created to promote public dialogue on issues of discrimination and oppression and to address grievances arising out of disputes concerning Dalit and Adivasi students. The Cell is also working proactively towards ensuring access to various schemes by the State and the Centre for students.

OBC Cell has been set up at Indian Institute of Legal Studies to ensure proper implementation of various schemes by the UGC, Government of India, and State Govt. concerning scholarships, stipends, etc. for the welfare of the reserved categories. The guidelines for various types of scholarship/ stipends as revised from time to time by Central and State Governments are notified to the students and are displayed on the Notice Boards of the Institute. These also get incorporated into the Institute's Prospectus for its vide publicity for the benefit of the students of reserved categories. This Cell ensures that these guidelines are strictly adhered to.
