International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

Every year on 21st March, people around the world celebrates “International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. ‘Say no to Racism’ has become a global mass appeal. Human civilization has witnessed plenty of instances where, a minority race had to suffered worse inhuman treatment from the majoritarian powerful race. In the history human civilization a dominant majority race has often posed existential threat to the race, who were inferior and backward comparatively with them. Whether its in America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, the inhuman racial discrimination has had bleak rationality of being human. Even after years of unprecedented technological progress and advancement of human consciousness, practice of ‘racial discrimination’ exists in many parts of the world.

Historian Yuval Noah Harari, in his international bestseller “Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind”, writes that ‘100,000 years ago, six human species inhabited the earth. Today there is just one.” The scientific research and the empirical records and data reveals that the geographical variations, weather, food habits etc. have been main  factor of racial variations. Discrimination on the ground of race or colour is just man made poisonous element of the human society. The theory and practice of racial discrimination has always led to a society where peace seldom exists inclusively. The treatment of ‘Blacks or Negros’ in the hand of White or Europeans, Jews, in the hand of Nazis, Indians in the hand of British had massive negative impact to the entire human society.

As famously said by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Complete elimination of racial discrimination from the face of mother earth has become a most necessary step from human community for its betterment and brighter future. Nowhere in this planet, the idea of racial discrimination should get space to exists. The ‘rich earth’ belongs to every race and community. The mother earth shall be more peaceful and prosperous if we learn to live and let live others harmoniously irrespective of race and distinct community. SAY NO TO RACISM.
