Ms. Samikchha Pradhan

Assistant Professor of Economics

Samikchha Pradhan is from Kurseong, West Bengal. She completed her secondary education at St. Helen’s Secondary School, Kurseong, and her Higher Secondary (ISC) education at Himali Boarding School, Kurseong. She earned her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics from St. Joseph’s College, Darjeeling, followed by a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of North Bengal, Siliguri.

She completed her M.Phil. in Economics at the University of North Bengal with a dissertation titled “Socio-Economic Factors Affecting Utilization of Maternal Health Care Services Among Women in Darjeeling Hills: An Empirical Study of KurseongTown,” under the supervision of Prof. Sanchari Roy Mukherjee. She qualified the UGC-NET (National Eligibility Test) and WBSET (West Bengal State Eligibility Test) in Economics in 2020.

Currently, she is a registered Ph.D. scholar in the Department of Economics, University of North Bengal, pursuing her doctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Sanchari Roy Mukherjee. Her doctoral research focuses on health economics, with particular emphasis on inequities in the utilization of Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (RMNCH) healthcare services.

She has actively participated in numerous international and national workshops, seminars, and conferences organized by reputed universities and academic institutions. Her academic interests include health economics, healthcare inequity, maternal and child health, health service utilization, and public health policy, with a special focus on reducing disparities in access to RMNCH healthcare services.
