On 23rd September 2026, under the supervision of Dr. Sachin Singh, Assistant Professor of Law, an empirical field visit was conducted as a part of their practical subject at Blossom Special School, South Khabrawari, Cooch Behar, by the students of B.A. LL.B Semester IX, Indian Institute of Legal Studies Coochbehar. The  Blossom school provides basic education, care and support to children with disabilities, including children with intellectual disabilities, autism, down syndrome and other neurological and developmental conditions.

During the visit, our students observed the learning environment and the special care provided to the students. The visit helped our students understand the practical implementation of the rights of persons with disabilities, particularly the rights relating to education, equality, dignity, care and inclusion, as recognised under the RPwD Act, 2016, the Constitution of India and the UNCRPD.

The students also made basic inquiries regarding the government facilities, aids and assistance available to the students of the concerned school. The field visit provided practical knowledge about the challenges faced by children with disabilities and the role of special schools in supporting their education and development.

The field visit was informative and helped the students connect the legal provisions relating to persons with disabilities with their practical application in a special-school environment.
