Field Visit to Cooch Behar District Court by LL.B. II Semester Students

On 23rd  May 2025, the Indian Institute of Legal Studies, Cooch Behar, organized an educational visit to the Cooch Behar District Court for the students of LL.B.,Semester II as part of their course on “Administrative Law.” The visit was conducted under the guidance of Miss Diksha Thapa, Assistant Professor of Law.

The objective of the visit was to familiarize students with the functioning of the judiciary at the district level and to observe the practical implementation of administrative legal principles within the court system. The visit offered students an experiential learning platform, bridging classroom theory with real-world legal proceedings.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to witness live court proceedings and observe how administrative and procedural laws are applied in various cases. They gained insights into the roles and responsibilities of judicial officers, court clerks, advocates, and other stakeholders in the judicial process.

In particular, the visit highlighted the role of the judiciary in controlling administrative actions through mechanisms such as writs, judicial review, and principles of natural justice. Students were also able to observe proceedings related to public authorities, thereby enhancing their understanding of the interface between administrative bodies and the judiciary.

The visit proved to be a valuable academic exercise that deepened students’ understanding of the practical aspects of administrative law and the critical role played by district courts in upholding the rule of law and protecting citizens’ rights.
