Field Visit to Regional Transport Office (RTO), Cooch Behar - Service Learning under Motor Vehicle Laws

On 18 September 2026, students of LL.B. Semester III undertook a field visit to the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Cooch Behar, as part of their practical subject, Service Learning under Motor Vehicle Laws, under the guidance of Mr Rohit Tamang, Assistant Professor of Law.
During the visit, students interacted with the RTO officials and learned about Driving Licence Issuance, driving tests, verification procedures, and road safety measures. A knowledge-sharing session was conducted on “Driving Licence Issuance and Road Safety: An Empirical Study of Testing Gaps and Untrained Drivers.”
The visit provided students with practical knowledge of the functioning of the RTO and helped them understand the challenges relating to driving tests, untrained drivers, and road safety.
