The Indian Institute of Legal Studies Cooch Behar, organized a Legal Aid and Awareness Session at Falakata Girls High School on 24th June 2026 to promote legal literacy and awareness among students.

The programme focused on important legal issues, including the significance of legal education and legal aid, constitutional rights and duties, the Golden Triangle of the Constitution, the Juvenile Justice System, and the protection of child labour.

The session was conducted by –

1. Ms. Shilpi Dhar, Assistant Professor of Law – Importance of Legal Education and Legal Aid in the Contemporary Era.

2. Ms. Saheli Sarkar (LL.B, Semester IV) – An Understanding of the Golden Triangle and the Constitution of India

3. Mr. Subhrojyoti Gangul (LL.B, Semester IV) – Juvenile Justice System: Legal Rights of Children in Conflict with the Law and Children with Needs and Protection

4. Ms. Tapati  Roy (LL.B, Semester IV) – Road safety laws and legal framework in India

5. Mr. Souradip Chakraborty (LLB.B, Semester IV) - Anti ragging law and discipline in educational institution

6. Ms. Gayetri Sarkar (LL.B, Semester IV) - The transformative role of the District legal services authority in free legal aid

The session concluded with an interactive discussion and question-and-answer segment, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students. The programme successfully enhanced legal awareness and encouraged young learners to become informed and responsible citizens.
