Lok Adalats (People’s Court) which are governed by Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 with overall guidance from NALSA with State and District Legal Services Authorities as implementing authority, is a platform which facilitate legal aid through alternative dispute resolution by encouraging parties to settle their pending and pre-litigation cases through negotiation and mutual consent which ensure amicable, binding dispute resolution outside regular court thereby reducing the burden on regular courts in India and ensure speedy and cost-effective justice.

On 13.12.2025, DLSA, Cooch Behar under the supervision of Smt Sreemoyee Chakraborty, Secretary DLSA, Cooch Behar had organised and conducted a Lok Adalat for speedy and amicable resolution of disputes among parties at Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre, Cooch Behar and Premises of District Court, Cooch Behar where the  following students from BA LLB (H) Sem VII of Indian Institute of Legal Studies Cooch Behar had actively participated in it and gained the knowledge about how the lok adalat is basically conducted among various parties in different field of area such as like Bank related matter, Public Utility, Traffic Challan, Matrimonial Dispute, NI Act etc and learn its procedural aspect mechanisms vis-a-vis observing client interaction in real-time dispute settlements. The following students had gained practical exposure to ADR mechanisms and court procedure.
