An academic field visit to the West Bengal Gramin Bank, Rajarhat Branch, provided valuable insights into the practical functioning of banking institutions and their role in financial governance. The visit demonstrated how banking laws and regulatory systems achieve transparency and accountability while enabling financial access to people in rural and semi-urban regions. The BA. LL.B. (VIII Semester) students observed all bank activities during their visit, which showed customer transactions and account management and loan processing and digital banking operations. Bank officials demonstrated to students how legal provisions operate within actual banking situations. The visit demonstrated how the Banking Regulation Act of 1949 and the Reserve Bank of India Act of 1934 establish essential legal frameworks that control bank operations throughout India. Students learned about compliance requirements and Know Your Customer (KYC) standards and anti-money laundering regulations and the supervisory role of the Reserve Bank of India over banking institutions. The visit provided insight into all government schemes which use regional rural banks to deliver financial inclusion programs and rural credit solutions and implementation of these programs by West Bengal Gramin Bank. The study showed how banking law functions as a vital mechanism to enhance economic progress while protecting customer rights. The visit was coordinated by Mr. Rohit Tamang, Assistant Professor of Law, who gave his guidance to create an educational experience for all participants at the visit.
