The Indian Institute of Legal Studies, under the supervision of Upasana Bishnu, organized an analytical research survey under the subject Human Rights Law and Practice titled “Human Rights of Women as a Vulnerable Group: Legal Rights, Gender-Based Challenges and Reformative Measures” on 14th May 2026 at Madhupur. The field survey was conducted with the objective of analyzing awareness regarding the human rights of women, their participation in family decision-making, the socio-economic and gender-based challenges faced by them, and their awareness regarding legal remedies available in cases of human rights violations. Through direct interaction and communication with women residents of Madhupur, Coochbehar, the survey provided practical insights into the realities experienced by women in society. The meaningful exchange of experiences and opinions highlighted issues such as gender inequality, lack of awareness regarding legal rights, social and economic barriers, and the need for stronger reformative measures and legal awareness initiatives to ensure the protection, dignity, and empowerment of women as a vulnerable group.
