Dr. Arpita Roy is Assistant Professor of English at the Indian Institute of Legal Studies Cooch Behar, where she has been serving since 2021.
She completed her B.A. (Hons.) in English from Siliguri College, affiliated with the University of North Bengal, during the academic session 2014–2017. She obtained her Master of Arts (M.A.) in English from Sikkim University in 2019, securing First Class. In recognition of her outstanding academic performance, she was awarded the Silver Medal at the Fifth Convocation of Sikkim University on 3 November 2019. During her postgraduate studies, she was also honoured with the Best NSS Volunteer Award (2018–2019) by the NSS Cell, Sikkim University for her exemplary service and commitment to community engagement.
Dr. Roy has qualified UGC NET in English in December 2025. She has been awarded with the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in English by the School of Languages and Literature, Sikkim University, in 2026. Her doctoral research, titled "Reconstructing Alternatives: Reimagining Diseases and Disabilities in Select Fictions in English, "contributes to the growing field of Literary Disability Studies, which constitutes her primary area of research and academic interest. She has contributed chapters in edited books and has several publications in reputed international peer-reviewed journals.
She has actively participated in and presented research papers at numerous national and international conferences organized by universities and academic institutions across the country. In addition, she has successfully completed several workshops, training programmes, Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), Faculty Induction Programmes (FIPs) organised by UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (UGC-MMTC) and two-credit courses, reflecting her continuous commitment to academic excellence, professional development, and lifelong learning.
