Mr. Soumyajit Mukherjee is an Assistant Professor of Law at the Indian Institute of Legal Studies, Cooch Behar, West Bengal. He holds an LL.M. from the Department of Law, University of Gour Banga, where his dissertation examined the challenges faced by young advocates through an empirical study of the District and Sessions Court, Malda. He completed his B.A. LL.B. from the University of Calcutta. His teaching and research interests span Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Human Rights, Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property Law, Cyber Law, Labour Law, Consumer Protection, Gender Justice, Electoral Reforms, and Law & Technology. His research adopts doctrinal, comparative, and empirical approaches to address contemporary legal challenges arising from technological innovation, governance, and social transformation.
Mr. Mukherjee has authored several scholarly articles and book chapters published by reputed journals and academic publishers on subjects including constitutional governance, counter-terrorism law, artificial intelligence, digital privacy, cyberbullying, electoral reforms, labour law, financial literacy, and gender justice. He has also presented research papers at numerous national and international seminars and conferences organised by leading universities and academic institutions across India.
Beyond teaching and research, he actively contributes to curriculum development, student mentoring, legal outreach initiatives, and the organisation of academic events. Dedicated to fostering analytical thinking, ethical reasoning, and research excellence, he strives to bridge legal theory with practical application while contributing to a progressive, socially responsive, and technology-driven legal education system.
