
Soumyadeep Ghosh is currently working as an Assistant Professor of Law at Indian Institute of Legal Studies Cooch Behar. He dedicated academician and legal scholar currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Law at Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University (CBPBU). His doctoral research focuses on the protection of the rights of internally displaced persons due to the construction of dams, with a special reference to the state of Sikkim.
He completed his schooling at Stepping Stone Model School, Alipurduar, achieving first-class marks in both his 10th and +2 examinations. He graduated with a B.A. LL.B. degree from South Calcutta Law College in 2019, securing an impressive 69.2% overall. Following this, he pursued his LL.M. in Corporate and Commercial Laws from CBPBU, completing the program in 2020.
To bridge the gap between theory and practice, he engaged in litigation for two years, gaining valuable insights into the practical applications of law. In 2022, he achieved a significant milestone by qualifying the West Bengal College Service Commission (WB SET) examination on April 1, 2022. This accomplishment further fueled his lifelong aspiration to contribute to academia, leading him to commence his Ph.D. journey on December 5, 2022.
During his Ph.D. studies, he has actively contributed to the academic discourse on legal issues. He has presented two research papers:
1. National Seminar: “A Study on the Challenges of Internally Displaced Women: With Special Reference to the Unorganised Sector”.
2. International Seminar: “A Study on the Working of International Institutions with Respect to the Rights of Internally Displaced Persons: With Special Reference to India”.
Additionally, he has published a research paper titled “Protection of the Rights of Internally Displaced Persons: A Legal Study” in the Indian Journal of Law and Governance (CBPBU), showcasing his commitment to contributing to legal scholarship.
With a strong academic foundation, practical experience, and a passion for addressing socio-legal issues, his carving a niche for himself in the field of legal studies and research.
